The Kit Vintage

Shopping at The Kit Vintage located in Los Angeles is like the best version of playing dress up as an adult....just ask Chrissy Tiegan who frequents The Kit. Your true one stop shop for all things glam, Robyn has you covered for everything from your best friend's baby shower to a black tie gala. Walking through the doors of her beautiful store transports you to another time and place (which I think we could all use just about now!) Her pieces range from the 1920s to the 1990s and ultimately everything she brings in feels timeless and modern. Beginning her career as an editor in NY and then a stylist here in LA, she is always thinking about a head-to-toe look and as such, she stocks incredible vintage accessories to help complete your outfit. From statement belts to one-of-a-kind costume jewelry, get ready to live out your full Pretty Woman fantasy scene. Make sure to check out her website and Instagram for amazing content and new arrivals...and if you have the chance to stop into the store, I promise you will be happy you did.

We chatted with Robyn about all things vintage and wanted to share some highlights from our conversation:

Q: What’s your favorite vintage era’s to pull from for The Kit Vintage?

A: 1920’s, 30’s and 70’s fashion is my ultimate fave. I got married in a 1930s rose gown and it was everything I wanted.

Q: What is your best vintage shopping advice for a vintage novice?

A: Shopping vintage is very personal- the best thing I can say is use it to personalize yourself and your own style.  Find those pieces that will make you feel like YOU- your best self.

Q: Can you share your philosophy on which vintage pieces to splurge on?

A: There are different vintage items that can be investment pieces or pieces to personalize. Both are great to keep in your closet. I consider investment pieces to be items that are timeless enough that you will wear them over and over...the kind of pieces that are unique and elicit compliments every time you wear them through the years even if it really is just for special occasions, you will always be glad you have them in your closet. The other kind of investment piece can be something you really get a lot of mileage out of it. Like our YSL set featured on La Suite...you can wear that jacket with jeans or the skirt with a t-shirt or the whole look for an event. It's the kind of thing that you will find yourself reaching for over and over again.

Q: Can you share with us one or two of your favorite vintage pieces?

A: I’ve had some amazing couture Dior from when YSL was designing that were sold to their archives. That was amazing for me to just have in my hands. I also currently have a 1950’s Pierre Balmain that I am restoring. It’s amazing and once it comes back to its original state- I will be excited to show it!
